For me internal linking is one of the most undervalued aspects of SEO, with many sites having inefficient menus and/or poor site structures. Create a list of articles with links that are similar or closely related to your content. I’m sure you don’t want to spend time creating content no one wants to read. The number one rule is to focus on your website visitors first. Give them remarkable content that invites them to stay on your site and visit several other pages. Content is more than an article, it can be anything from an infographic, stellar image, video, street views of projects, or a power point presentation – be creative. Search engines “see” this behavior (user engagement, lower bounce rates, higher time-on site etc), and they reward your site for it with better quality metrics and higher rankings.
Reduce PopUps or Distracting Ads
Setting the value of the "rel" attribute of a link to "nofollow" will
tell Google that certain links on your site shouldn't be followed
or pass your page's reputation to the pages linked to.
Nofollowing a link is adding rel="nofollow" inside of the link's anchor
tag. Backlinks are incoming links
to your website from another site. They are an indispensable part of SEO and a prime ranking factor Google takes into account in their PageRank algorithm. A page with multiple backlinks from authoritative sources is more likely to rank higher. Not many people realize the importance of the URL. It is in fact, the first thing a search engine notices while ranking a page. If you can’t budget for 6 to 12 months of SEO, you might be better off putting that budget somewhere else.
Use keyword research to choose the right terms for Google and help your target customers find your content
Google has told the SEO community time and time again that social media signals have no impact on search rankings that that social is not a direct ranking signal. Understanding what your customers
and users want to learn and know is exactly how you should be developing your SEO strategy. RankBrain is a machine-learning system that actually evolves over time to continuously provide the best search results possible. Rather than the basis of the algorithms running through a checklist of "rules" put in place by engineers, RankBrain works with the pre-existing algorithms to determine on its own what pages should be found relevant for different queries. A link should only be considered quality if it’s relevant to your website and the particular page that the link is pointing to.
Understand your user flows
Content is written in a manner that helps Google and other search engines find and identify it as being relevant to certain keywords and phrases that people enter into the search engine query box. Google and the other search engines use image-recognition software as part of their search algorithm, so they know if those pictures have been used elsewhere before. Redirect your HTTP pages to the new HTTPS version of your web pages and use the canonical attribute to show search engines that you prefer the secure version of your pages. Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant
, commented: "If your website can't be found on Google, it basically does not exist. It is very important to be listed on Google if you want to get customers through the Internet."
Identify potential link partners
Updating content across a site should be a priority as Google rewards fresher content for certain searches. When Google returns its
search results, it produce two types of results: organic results and paid results. Organic search results most closely match the user’s search query based on relevance as deciphered by Google’s search algorithm. Also known as natural search results, ranking well in organic results for relevant and valuable search terms is the goal of SEO. Most people get SEO wrong, because they focus on what they think search engines want instead of focusing on the user. Before writing a blog, it’s important that you conduct a keyword search to rank high on Google.
